Looking for Single Service Award info

Hello. I'm a former Circle K member rather than a current one, so sorry for intruding on your community ;), but I'm hoping that someone out there can help me with my request. As part of Circle K's 50th anniversary celebration, alumni are putting together a history booklet, and I've volunteered to put together the section on service through the years. They suggested that I include some past Single Service Award winners, but I'm having trouble finding that information.

So if are you from a club that has won the International Single Service Award (or an alum watching this community whose club won in the past), I'd love to hear from you. The International Office has a list of award winners but I don't think they name the specific projects, just schools, so any winning projects to add to the list would be helpful. But really, what I'm most interested in are the personal stories of what the project was and how it felt to be internationally recognized for your efforts.

So if you can help in any way, or point me in the direction of someone who can, please let me know.

Thanks so much,
(formerly of the) Michigan District

Lorie Witkop?

Your bulletins were always the best...
Wow, I'm flattered. Also a little confused about how you know about my bulletins.
I was District Editor for Key Club the year after you finished for Circle K. All your old bulletins were in my file boxes. I enjoyed reading them...the quality has gone down considerably since...
Ah, I see. And yeah, I've read the bulletins that came after mine on the district website, and I try not to think bad things about them because I feel like I'm being snooty about it, but Word Art and chicken recipes make me sad.
There's a really good candidate running for District Editor this coming year: Caitlyn Kienitz, freshman at MSU. She'd do a fantastic job...

As for me, I'm glad I'm no longer an Editor. Losing three Administrators, having a meagre budget, forcing people to write articles, and losing faith in humanity do not constitute factors that would make me run a second time.
w00t! for Michigan District!

haha, I think it's funny that I keep finding Richard in cki communities or journals of people who are in cki in other states.

Anyway, yeah, I don't know where to look to find that stuff...sorry. Hope that you can find it!
Hey, thanks anyway!
Hi Lorie! I can't remember the last time that someone from my District (Western Canada) won the Single Service award. I believe that a club did so just before my time however. I'll be searching through my alumni records sometime in the next month (for certain this time!), and hopefully I'll come across something. If so, I'll be sure to let you know. In any case, good luck, and please feel free to contact me if there's anything I can help with! :)

Thanks for the effort! If you find anything, that would be cool to hear from a smaller club (from what I remember of We-Can's size) compared to, say, The University of Michigan.
Well, I'm pretty sure that my home club, San Diego State Circle K won the single service award back when our advisor was in the club . . . early 90's maybe? The project was called "Have a Heart" and that's all I remember. I'll see if I can get in touch with some alumni so I can help you out.
Hey, thanks! I'd appreciate anything you could find out about it.
Hey Lorie,

I don't remember about my District (Southwest) winning any of the awards during my years in CKI, but I will ask around and get it for you. When do you need it by?
I need all the information by the end of March, so if you find out anything, you've got a while to send it my way. Thanks for the help!
U of Michigan has won the single service award twice. Both for the Detroit Project. Let me know if you need any other information :-)
